Neck Protection

fret polishing

Protect your Guitar Neck and Fretboard.

fret polishing

I could have made something similar. But for $5 why bother!

This little luthiers gadget is great!  Especially when you don’t want the hassle of taping up the fretboard. It can be held in place with your left or right hand as you file and buff with the other.  Some people bend one end down to hold it in place better. I find this is not necessary as you only need your thumb and forefinger on each end to hold it in place. You can see how polished it is in the centre from the last fret job.

Fret Board Protector

Stainless Steel Fret Board Protector

This fretboard protector is only 0.25mm thick. So getting your frets fully dressed is easy. It’s made from stainless steel and will fit most fret sizes, including jumbo. The width of the opening on the fretboard protector is 69.4mm. Even a Classical Guitar Neck is thinner than that at around 65mm. Most necks on acoustic and electric Guitars are at most about 59mm at their widest point.

Bass guitar players should check how fat their frets are. I know from working in a local Music Store that some basses in the mid to late 80′s had weird fret sizes. Some older guitars may have had a re-fret with some fat funky frets. (Usually resulting from damage removing the worn frets from the fretboard). The protector should fit your frets, as the opening is 2.7mm.
